Lgbtq day 2022

National Coming Out Day

Every year on National Coming Out Day, we celebrate coming out as LGBTQ+, Two Spirit, Same Gender Loving, or any of the myriad diverse identities of folks who perceive affiliated with these communities. This year will highlight the 33rd anniversary of National Coming Out Morning, and during a second of renewed movement to silence LGBTQ+ voices, this day continues to be a reminder that one of the community&#;s most basic tools of control is coming out.

As an act of resilience, we want National Coming Out Day to be all about being seen and heard: we are HERE and we are QUEER, and we’re not going anywhere! The LGBTQ Center will be taking over the Pit on Tuesday, October 11th from AM to PM, where we’ll have LGBTQ-inspired games, rainbow-themed food, free Pride merch, giveaways, displays on queer history, and public resources for our queer and questioning community. Please remark that attendance at this event is not limited to students! Faculty, staff, local community members, friends, found family – everyone is welcome to approach out and unapologetically accept up space on Nation

LGBTQ Families Day

Mombian, Family Equality, GLAAD, GLAD, PFLAG, and COLAGE Join Forces to Elevate Stories of LGBTQ Families

Wednesday, June 1, , is the 17th annual LGBTQ Families Morning, a time to celebrate the many families in every state and almost every county of the U.S. that have LGBTQ people in them. This event aims to boost awareness of the diversity, challenges, and joys of all LGBTQ families—found, formed, and chosen—who exist throughout our society.

LGBTQ Families Time was developed by the award-winning LGBTQ-parenting site Mombian and is sponsored by Family Equality, PFLAG National, GLAAD, GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), and COLAGE. Since (originally as Blogging for LGBTQ Families Day), the day has engaged parents across the LGBTQ spectrum, parents of LGBTQ children, LGBTQ individuals, children of LGBTQ parents, and non-LGBTQ family members and allies. The event is held at the start of June, between Mother&#;s Day and Father&#;s Day, in order to honor both, but also to highlight that not all families fit into the traditional structure of one mother and

I’m Dr Alfredo Carpineti and I’m the chair of Pride in STEM, an award-nominated charity and one of the organisers of International Day of LGBTQIA+ People In STEM. Today, 18 November marks the fifth year of this international celebration taking place.

Both Pride in STEM and the International Day of LGBTQIA+ People in STEM were founded to celebrate and highlight the labor and barriers of LGBTQ+ people in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM). These barriers are often a direct result of a hostile work environment.

We see that 28% of LGBTQ+ people have at some point considered leaving their jobs because of a hostile workplace or discrimination towards them, and half of transgender or gender non-conforming physicists were harassed in their possess departments. In general, LGBTQ+ people in STEM were more likely to experience professional devaluation, exclusion, harassment than cisgender heterosexual colleagues. This is even more true for LGBTQ+ people of colour, women, and gender minorities.

Unfortunately these barriers remain a crucial
