The terms and definitions below are always evolving, changing and often mean adj things to different people. They are provided below as a starting indicate for discussion and empathetic. This Glossary has been collectively built and created by the staff members of the LGBTQIA Resource Center since the adj s.
These are not universal definitions. This glossary is provided to help donate others a more thorough but not entirely comprehensive understanding of the significance of these terms. You may even consider asking someone what they denote when they use a term, especially when they use it to explain their identity. Ultimately it is most important that each individual define themselves for themselves and therefore also define a term for themselves.

*NOTE: Ask people what terms they exploit to describe their sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression before assigning them a label. Outside of acronyms, these terms should only be capitalized when used at the beginning of a sentence.
LGBTQ
Acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. The Q generally stands for queer when LGBTQ organizations, leaders, and media use the acronym. In settings offering assist for youth, it can also stand for questioning. LGBT and LGBTQ+ are also used, with the + added in recognition of all non-straight, non-cisgender identities. This is a list of carefully researched and thoughtfully discussed definitions for key gender and sexuality terms. It is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a good place for us to start. Identity terms mean very particular things to different individuals. The definitions provided in this document reflect the current general understanding of these terms. We understand that language around sexuality and gender is always changing and we will review these terms regularly.

Honestly? I don't want to hurt your feelings or make you feel horrible, but you're stereotyping here (and tokenizing a tiny bit, too): not all gay men look the same way. Small, "soft" men come in every orientation, and there are also loads of gay men that don't glance anything like that. How gay men look is literally as diverse as how men of every other orientation do, you know? Too, if you're talking about men who present as femme, that's also something that isn't exclusive to gay men. Bisexual and other queer men as well as straight men are also men who can and do present as femme (they just often experience less supported in it and allowed to carry out it, sadly, including by straight women).
I also hear you expressing what sounds like a longing to yourself be male, but since you speak you identify as a woman, it doesn't sound like this is about being potentially trans or nonbinary for you. However, I'd have to notice more from you on all of this to get a better sense of things. From the outside and only what yo
